yearbook design

1. What do you like most about your designs? (Four sentences)
One thing I like about my designs is that they all fit the theme well but are not all the same. I like the way the art themed page turned out because I find the shoe rack frames the art pieces nicely. I also like that I tried to include both bowling and track in the same page by using their similarities suck as shoe laces and shoes. Finally, I like that the cover is simple because it get the message/title across without being hidden and I tried to make the ‘2011/2012 yearbook’ look like it was engraved in the bowling ball (normally how the size is carved in).

2. What do you think could be improved about your designs? (Four sentences)
I think the cover is almost too simple, it’s easy to look at but not overly creative. Also the track and field page seems very ‘square’. Next time I might arrange the pictures so they don’t line up exactly. The art themed page is busy making it difficult to look at so next time I would choose a different background or add more artwork to fill in the shoe slots.

3. What do you think makes your designs unique and competitive to be selected for the real yearbook design?  (Four sentences) I think my yearbook design is very original and can be related to any person (male/female). A bowling alley is a retro place and retro a very common trend right now. It’s a fun and upbeat place to think about which is what I wanted my pages to be about; carefree and enjoyable memories. I think my designs are interesting because they’re complex but simple at the same time. almost anyone can relate because everyone knows of (if they haven’t been to) a bowling alley. I think my pages inspire people to relax and enjoy the simple joys of life J

brainstorming for yearbook

A possible idea for my yearbook theme is a bowling alley. I would include images of bowling balls, pins shoes and the lanes themselves. I would use a retro font because most bowling alleys have colourful lights and disco balls. The cover page would be the entrance to a bowling alley incorporating our school's name into the name of the building. I found an image of a shoe rack that I could use to frame picutes for the 'art' page.
