 a) In this picture I see a homeless man on a sidewalk with people walking past him. he looks like he's unhappy, but used to being that way. The people passing don't pay any attention to him, as if they don't notice him there.
b) The message I was portraying through this piece of art is that there are people in this world who are just as talented as everyone else, yet are under appreciated. The homeless man in this picture could be a wonderful artist-whether it be visual or musical etc. but daily people would walk by and pass him off as unworthy of recognition. Generally when people see a homeless person they move to the other side of the sidewalk instead of offering help. the movement each person does, creates a rhythm.
c) I like this piece because I believe its message is an important one. I also like that the words don't take over because of the man's facial expression draws my eye. I dislike the amount of 'noise' on the picture; I think its a little too much.

Barbara Kruger Assignment
a) This picture has a face split in two, one half dark and one half light. The face is symmetrical except that the highlights and darks are inversed in the sides. The words are written in white, surrounded by a red box. They say "Your body is a battleground".
b) I think the artist is trying to say that there are two sides to a person and the two sides fight against eachother to make the personality of the person. if one side is stronger than the other that determines the way the person will act- if the dark or 'more violent' side of a person is stronger than the light they in turn will be 'darker' or act violently; the opposite for the light side.
c) I like Barbara Kruger's work because each piece seems to tell a story or portray a message but that message isn't blatantly obvious. The viewer has to take time and think about what the piece is suggesting which is what I believe is the most important part of art. I like that the image is in black and white but the words are in red because it makes the words or message seem like the focal point of the piece.

Brainstorming for Arcade Game

An idea for my Moonlander Graphic Redesign is a frog hopping. When the frog misses a landing pad he splats in to the water and dies. One background would be a nature scene with a river and trees, the landing pads for it would be rocks or logs in the water. Another would be in a forest (like tree frogs) and the landing pad would be designated branches. The last would be another water related one, possibly a pool or pond. If a pool, the diving board could be a landing area and if a pond lilypads. Instead of 'thrusters' I want to make the frog's legs point in the opposite direction as if it were jumping. Some pictures I might use for inspiration could be:

What I like most: I like that each scene is different rather than a different view of the same area; in the original all three scenes were mountains whereas mine show a variety of settings. I like that the frogs legs move instead of 'thrusters'! I think it adds character to him. I also like the tree scene because it has a background that the others don't yet the frog doesn't die if he hits it.

What could be improved: I think next time I would make the water in both the waterfall scene and pool scene look more realistic by adding more tones. I thought I would like the 'explosion' as the frog turning but it turns out I dont so I would also improve that. In the pool scene the floatie in the water is at a strange angle which makes the surroundings look strange. Finally, I would make the frogs expression change because his face looks flat and unrealistic.

How is the game an improvement upon the original: Like I said before, I like that the scenes change in mine rather than staying the same for all three. Along with that the frog changes which I love! Also, I like that mine has bright colours instead of dull brown ones, but the darks work for the original because of the setting. I think the colours are just right because they arent so bright that they're distracting from playing the game.

What I like about these pictures? I like that the main colours in these pictures are orange and blue, complementary colours. I think  that the way I made the images reflects the lyrics of teh song I chose without clearly acting them out. What I would improve? I think that in all of the pictures there are a lot on midtones rather than a variety of lights and darks. Also, I think the end products could have been more creative, I didnt use many stamps or erasers. What icture I like the most? I like the picture with the clocks in it. I love the way the t-shirts turned out! Also I like that the clocks add to the lyrics, like if you waste time in your life 'just getting by' you're life wont be as exciting as it potentially could be. So use your time to the max and you'll enjoy it :)

Utpoian Invention Design

STEP ONE:
1) Q. Give reasons for why you think Da Vinci invented the inventions.
    A. I think Da Vinci was very imaginative and had many fantasies for the future. Without thoughts and ideas like the ones he had, our society would never progress technologically. Every invention comes from an idea. I think he thought this to be very true and began planning inventions that, at the time, would seem crazy but have now become everyday things. I think these absurd dreams he had were a way to express his creativity. The fact that he wished to publish his inventions says he was serious about improving technology for the future.

2) Q.Choose one of Da Vinci's inventions and explain why you think it has the biggest impact on modern society.
   A. I think his designs for 'flying machines' have greatly impacted todays society because planes are now used on a daily basis for many reasons. Injured/sick people are flown in helicopters from hospital to hospital because driving isn't fast enough. Also, these modern day 'flying machines' are used for pleasure to fly across bodies of water or to get somewhere faster.

STEP TWO:
-Thought Phone: 'talk' to one person without anyone else in the room hearing by speaking through thoughts.
-Transportation device: with destinations around the world, walk trough a door and find yourself instantly where you wish to be.
-Eye Camera: ever notice a camera woun't quite capture what you're seeing? With this camera your eyes are the lense so your picture turns out exactly the way you want.

My Hidden Self

How does this image show your hidden self?
I find this picture portrays a lot of dreams I have for the future that many people wouldn't expect. These include traveling, walking up the CN tower and putting and end to world hunger. I don't tend to dwell on the past because you never know what tomorrow will bring. I included brushes of clocks to show that hope I see in the future. I love playing cards, but in this image they have a double meaning. The second is that you can pick the hand you`re dealt in life, but you definitely decide how you play your cards. When I was younger I wanted to play guitar for the kids at London`s Children Hospital, but I quit lessons and really want to start again when I have time. Also, I like to consider myself a capable artist, but many people would find that surprising because I don't show that side of myself to everyone. I've recently discovered I enjoy the emotion I can show through painting which is why I am painting in this picture. When I look at water I can get a lot of emotion so I put the paintbrush making a drop of water. The trees are to represent stability and growth. I love being there for other people and in order to help them through their problems I have to be stable. I never plan on growing up completely, staying a kid forever would be great, but right now I'm making decisions where I feel like I`m growing up quickly. There are many sides of me people don`t know about yet but hopefully they will soon :)

What aspect of your image do you feel is most successful and why
I like how the images completely fill up the picture so there are no blank areas your eyes are drawn to. Also I like that your eye moves around the page with the angles of the images.

What aspect of your image to you feel is least successful and why
I find the image kind of bland because of the lack of contrast, and the amount of blue I used.

If you could do this project again, what changes would you make to improve it
I would increase the contrast and amount of orange or another colour. I would like to have put more thought into my images so their purpose was not as clear, but that's not the picture itself as much as the thought behind it. Some areas of the picture look sharp and bold which draw my eye away from others so I`d work on overall balance.

My Hidden Self

Five things most people don't know about me are:
1) I started playing guitar and plan to take it up again in the future.
2) I think food is art, and the better its displayed the better it tastes.
3) I genuinely enjoy helping people even if it's in the smallest ways.
4) My birthday is the same day as my Nanny's.
5) My favourite place in the world is either my cottage or the lookout tower.

Three things my friends would say about my personality would be I'm dedicated, I'm helpful, and I'm outgoing yet quiet.

If I could change in some way, or portray a side of myself more to the world I'd start off by showing my artistic skills more, they're kind of my hidden talent. I would become more patient with people who are close to me. I've wanted to join SAC since grade 9 but never have. My life gets too busy sometimes, I wish I could slow it down to take the time to recognize the beauty in small things.

I have many goals and dreams for the future-a bucket list of 78 and counting actually. My top five would have to be to:
1) figure out what I love to do most in this world, and do it forever (career wise)
2) paint a mural
3) climb the steps of the CN tower
4) put an end to hunger
5) travel to Scotland, England, Greece, France, and Italy

Over all, I seem like a quite, determined, over-achiever yet I see myself as enthusiastic, creative and considerate. I have many hopes and dreams for the future and would rather do something huge and be known for it than comtinue with little works without recognition.
